School Visits

Highfields offers a fun, educational and hands-on experience for children of all ages. No two trips are the same as farm life differs from day-to-day.

Our childrens’ visits are centred completely around your group or class and can be adapted for any topic you may be teaching. Most areas of Foundation and Key Stages 1 and 2 can be covered. We have produced a teacher’s guide (at a cost of £12.50 and obtainable by contacting us on 01283 732083) which contains many activities and photcopy’able worksheets based directly on your childrens’ particular key stage.

A visit to Highfields Happy Hens can last as long or as short as you want it to. You can enjoy a picnic lunch in one of our picnic areas or we can provide sandwich boxes (at extra cost) to take the stress out of lunch time, explore our safe, open spaces, or simply let the children experience life on the farm at their own pace. There are a number of extra activities available including tractor and trailer ride, egg collecting and whatever else may be happening on the day of your visit (hatching and lambing included!) The children can even take home the 6 eggs they collect at an extra cost of just 85p per person!

The farm is open Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm, with pre-booked trips available throughout the week at a cost of £4 November to February and £5 March to October. Teachers are welcome to visit the farm beforehand in order to plan their day – please contact us to arrange.

Please download our Primary or Early Years Pack (if you are a school) or our Children’s Visit Pack (if you are a group/club) for full information and booking form.
